Paper Quilts

These pieces are made from various images and foldings, all stitched together in shapes reminiscent of traditional quilts. What makes it a quilt is the three layers, the top, batting and back, united by a border. Everything that is visible is paper.

The quilts are intensive to create. Each origami piece is folded individually, then sometimes cut apart and sewn to a contrasting design. It takes so long to fold the quilts that I like to think of memories sewn into the work. I can remember where I was and who I was with as I was forcing individual pieces.
